Launching the first edition of the conference "Flourishing mind" In Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi, November 22 / WAM / The first edition of the “Flourishing Mind” conference was launched in the capital, Abu Dhabi, today, under the patronage and presence of Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural and Educational Institutions, along with Sheikha Rawda bint Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Emirati Parliament for Children.
The conference constitutes a pioneering national platform that aims to unify the efforts of the health, community and education sectors under one umbrella, in an effort to improve the mental and neurological health of children and adolescents, and to enhance community awareness of the importance of early intervention and prevention, as well as developing the necessary therapeutic skills.
An elite group of national and international institutions that reflect institutional integration on mental health issues participate in the conference – which is organized by the American Psychological and Neurological Center.
Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan affirmed in her speech that the UAE has chosen to be an oasis concerned with human education and building just as it is concerned with building architecture, considering that the state’s embrace of the “Flourishing the Mind” conference is a practical translation of its commitment to supporting initiatives that place human health at the heart of public policies, and redefine the concept of mental health, not as a mere treatment but as an integrated approach to life that begins from childhood and continues until the end of life.
She focused on the challenges posed by the digital world and its profound impact on new generations, explaining that a child in our current era is exposed, within one hour, to a huge amount of influences to which an entire generation has not been exposed before.
She explained that the “Flourishing Mind” conference is not just a passing event that ends with the end of the schedule of sessions and workshops, but rather a clear announcement of the beginning of a new phase in which an integrated empowerment system is built, aiming to provide everything necessary for every child, youth, and individual in society to reach their maximum mental, psychological, and creative potential.
Her Excellency Dr. Omniyat Mohammed Al Hajri, Executive Director of the Community Health Sector at the Abu Dhabi Public Health Center, gave a speech about mental health.
The event witnessed a group of discussion sessions that brought together specialists from the health, education and community sectors and discussed how to employ artificial intelligence in the field of child mental health, in addition to holding a specialized workshop on child protection.
