"Sharjah culture" Launches the 10th edition of the Luxor Arab Poetry Festival

Luxor, 28 November / WAM / Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the city of Luxor in the Arab Republic of Egypt witnessed, yesterday evening, a major cultural celebration on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the founding of the House of Poetry in Luxor in 2015, during the launching ceremony of the tenth session of the Luxor Festival of Arab Poetry, which is organized by the Sharjah Department of Culture in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture over a period of 4 days with the participation of more than 140 creative Egyptian and Arab poets, male and female, artists and critics.

The opening ceremony was held at the Luxor Convention Center Theater in the presence of His Excellency Abdullah bin Muhammad Al Owais, Head of the Department of Culture in Sharjah, Muhammad Ibrahim Al Qasir, Director of the Cultural Affairs Department in the Department of Culture, His Excellency Abdel Muttalib Emara, Governor of Luxor, and Dr. Khaled Abu Al-Lail, Chairman of the Egyptian General Book Authority, on behalf of His Excellency Ahmed Fouad Hanno, Egyptian Minister of Culture, and Dr. Hisham Abu Zeid, Deputy Governor of Luxor Governorate, Dr. Mohamed Abdel Wahab, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, alongside executive and administrative figures of the governorate, deans of colleges, academics, students and a large audience.

Hussein Al-Qabahi, director of the Luxor Poetry House, said that after ten years in the process of the Poetry House, which was bestowed upon us by the generosity of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, the house presented a bright galaxy of creative people in Egypt, especially its youth, and added to the cultural arena a large number of creative people who have now become owners of brilliant names present in multiple Egyptian, Arab and international cultural events.

He pointed out that the House did not leave a place in Egypt without going there, opening the doors of cultural cooperation with hundreds of local institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Culture or serious civil society, without cooperating with them, and providing all the moral and material support he could to them, explaining that cooperation is based on a spirit filled with love and the desire for thought and culture to be the ones that crown the minds of the people of the current generation.

Al-Qabahi pointed out that the opening evening of the festival will witness the participation of four poets under the age of 25, emphasizing the House’s mission to support young talents. He pointed out that the House of Poetry supported their creative journey from the first moments, stressing that the House of Poetry’s endeavors aim to promote beautiful human values, goodness, love, and the values ​​of belonging to our homelands that extend from the ocean to the Gulf.

For his part, His Excellency Abdullah Al Owais pointed out, in his speech during the ceremony, that the House of Poetry in Luxor has continued its creative excellence that has spanned 10 years, saying, “We are pleased to meet today in an atmosphere full of poetry and creativity at the Luxor Festival of Arab Poetry, this cultural event that has become a shining sign in the Arab literary scene, as its tenth session begins to continue its creative journey that has spanned ten years of distinction, success, and diverse cultural giving.

Al Owais thanked the Egyptian Ministry of Culture for its permanent cultural cooperation and embrace of the House, and for its sincere efforts to make its activities successful in Luxor and in all governorates, so that this cooperation expresses the depth of the historical relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Arab Republic of Egypt.

For his part, Dr. said: Khaled Abu Al-Lail, said that the patronage of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah constituted a cultural milestone in the Arab cultural scene, pointing out that the Poetry Houses initiative represents a very rich cultural vision for cultural cooperation that continues to this day in its tenth year with great regularity, and if it indicates anything, it indicates the close and strong roots of this cooperation and the depth of the ties, brotherhood and friendship between Egypt and the Emirates.

For his part, Abdel Muttalib Amara expressed his pride in choosing Luxor as a main station for the House of Poetry, which organizes this festival annually, as it has become a shining platform that brings together poets and creators from various parts of the Arab world, praising the distinguished efforts of the House of Poetry team in Luxor in serving the cultural movement and spreading the spirit of beauty and knowledge among the people of society.

The statistics of the House of Poetry during the first ten years since its founding witnessed a remarkable cultural momentum, reflecting the spirit of initiative and its flowing energy in the heart of the Egyptian and Arab cultural scene.

From 2015 to 2025, the House organized more than 600 cultural events in which about 3,000 male and female poets participated. It also organized more than 250 critical symposiums in which approximately 480 male and female critics participated, in addition to organizing about 25 training courses, 20 exhibitions of Arabic calligraphy and plastic arts, and publishing more than 50 books.

Karam Al Owais and Al Quseir were accompanied by Amara and Abu Al Lail, the Egyptian critic and academic Dr. Muhammad Abu Al-Fadl Badran was named Cultural Personality of the Year for the tenth session of the festival in honor of his continuous creative efforts.
