Within the framework of celebrating the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, and within the activities of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture and its initiatives supporting arts and culture, the Egyptian Academy of Arts in Rome, headed by Professor Dr. Rania Yahya, organized a distinguished artistic and cultural event at the Academy’s headquarters.
Professor Dr. Loredana Sist, Professor of Science, participated in the event. Egyptology, Literature and Linguistics at La Sapienza University in Rome, which thanked the Academy and its director for giving her the opportunity to return to this Egyptian cultural beacon after an absence of more than fifty years, as her first participation in the Academy was in 1974. Siste made a rich scientific and cultural contribution that reflected the depth of cultural relations between Egypt and Italy, and her presentation covered several topics about the relationship between architecture and antiquities, and how Rome was influenced by ancient Egyptian civilization and its symbols, in addition to her praise With the beauty of the costumes, which are inspired by elements and icons from the ancient Egyptian civilization.
The choir band of the Church of St. Patissero in the Cathedral of San Giovanni also presented a distinctive musical segment, accompanied by the artist Massimiliano Franchina on the piano, and conducted by the maestro Elisabetta de Leoni. The choir presented a group of fine arias, and soprano Sarah Agostinelli participated with them with her breathtaking voice.
The evening witnessed a special surprise for the audience, as the choir leader presented a musical piece entitled “Peace be upon you, Mother of the World”, in a symbolic tribute to the pioneering Egyptian role and an embodiment of the depth of Egyptian-Italian relations throughout the ages. Dr. Rania Yahya, Director of the Academy, participated in playing the flute with the choir during the performance of this piece, which the author dedicated to Egypt in celebration of this major cultural occasion and in appreciation of the inspiring Egyptian role, especially in the wake of the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
This piece was composed based on a suggestion from the Director of the Academy with the aim of introducing the Italian public to the cultural role of Egypt, so that the choir would chant the phrase “Mother of the World,” and to convey the message to everyone that Egypt was It is still a homeland of peace.
In conclusion, the director of the academy honored all the participants in appreciation of their efforts.
The academy also opens the doors of the Tutankhamun Museum of Reproductions so that the public can learn about part of the wonderful Egyptian civilization.
