Visits reached a record number of 170.2 million visits by the end of 2024 AD, compared to 127.9 million visits in 2020 AD, in a clear indication of the expansion of health coverage and ease of access to services.

Demand escalates

Official statistics revealed a continuous upward trend in the demand for therapeutic services in all sectors, as Ministry of Health facilities received the largest share of patients with more than 74 million visits in 2024 AD, achieving a growth of 19.5% compared to 61.9 million visits at the beginning of the monitoring period, which reflects the ability of the government sector to absorb the population increase and growing demand.

And in an indication of the success of the privatization and investment encouragement plans, the private health sector took the lead. By achieving the highest growth rates among all sectors, as the number of its visitors jumped by more than 48%, rising from 48.1 million visits in 2020 AD and reaching 71.2 million visits this year, becoming a pivotal partner in providing health care to citizens and residents.

Private sector growth

The data showed parallel growth in other government sectors (other than the Ministry Health”, which recorded a 39% increase in the number of visitors, reaching 24.8 million visits compared to 17.8 million previously, which confirms the integration of roles between the various health authorities to ensure comprehensive coverage.

This expansion of services was reflected positively and directly on the per capita share of health care, as the average number of annual visits per person increased from 4.1 visits to 4.8 visits, which is attributed to the high level of health awareness in society, And the development of digital and traditional channels that facilitated booking appointments and accessing doctors in various regions of the Kingdom.
