Netanyahu submits a pardon request to the Israeli president

Israeli media reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu submitted a pardon request to Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Sunday.

This step comes after Herzog received from his American counterpart, Donald Trump, a letter earlier in which he asked him to pardon Netanyahu, who has been on trial for years in corruption cases.

Israeli Channel 14 had indicated that Israeli President Isaac Herzog is ready to move forward with the step of pardoning Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, provided that the latter admits guilt or pledges not to run in the upcoming elections.
