Strong confrontations at the start of the main round of the Al Habtoor Tennis Challenge Championship

The main round competitions for the 28th edition of the Al Habtoor International Women’s Tennis Challenge, hosted by the Tennis Complex at the Al Habtoor Grand Resort in Jumeirah in Dubai, will begin tomorrow, with the participation of 80 of the most prominent emerging talents, with prizes amounting to $100,000.
Today, the organizing committee held a press conference at the tournament headquarters, in the presence of Khalaf Ahmed Al Habtoor, Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee, Nasser Al Marzouqi, Secretary-General of the Emirates Tennis Federation, Noura Badawi, Director of the Tournament, Laith Al-Ani, Director of Operations and Referee Officer, and Sheetal Layar, the International Federation’s representative, the general referee of the tournament, in addition to a number of participating players, led by Hungarian Dalma Galfi, ranked first.
The draw for the main round, which includes 32 players, resulted in balanced matches, as first seed Dalma Galvi meets a player who qualifies from the qualifiers, while second seed Russian Anastasia Zakharova faces her compatriot Maria Tredenkina. The third seed, Austrian Sina Kraus, will play with one of the qualifiers from the preliminary round, while the fourth seed, Ukrainian Petra Marcinko, will begin her campaign against Slovakian Viktoria Hronkova, who won the Fujairah International Tennis Championship two days ago.
The preliminary round competitions have already begun today, to determine the players who qualify for the main round.
Khalaf Ahmed Al Habtoor stressed that the tournament has become a prominent milestone in women’s tennis and in women’s sports in general, through its contribution to supporting talent and empowering female players.
He explained that the championship, which has been running for more than a quarter of a century, has become a bridge to reach international level, praising its continued development and numerous successes.
