The developmental swimming championship is a step to discover talent

The Chairman of the Business Committee of the Emirates Aquatic Sports Federation, Abdullah Al Wahaibi, confirmed that the development swimming championship, which was recently held over two days at the Hamdan Sports Complex in Dubai, represents an important milestone in the Federation’s journey towards expanding the base of practitioners, refining the skills of young swimmers, and enhancing the presence of promising talents on the sports scene.
The Water Sports Federation had organized the development swimming championship at the Hamdan Sports Complex in Dubai, with the participation of more than 600 male and female swimmers, representing 35 clubs and academies from various emirates of the country, as part of its plan to support emerging talents and expand the base of practitioners through tournaments designated for swimmers with limited experience, giving them the opportunity to participate in fair competitions, enhancing their artistic development and supporting their sports career.
Abdullah Al-Wahaibi told Emirates Today: “The tournament witnessed distinguished participation by more than 600 male and female swimmers, which reflects the growing interest in swimming and the growing presence of academies and clubs within the talent development system.”
He added: “The development tournament was designed specifically for the category of swimmers who are still in the stage of building experience, and allows them to compete in multiple competitions and distances in a fair and equal environment. This type of tournament is very important, because it gives swimmers who have numbers slower than level C the opportunity to compete with players of the same abilities, which enhances their confidence and motivates them to continue working and diligently.”
Al-Wahaibi pointed out that “the goal of this level is not only to provide an opportunity to participate, but rather to prepare a new generation of swimmers capable of gradual development,” stressing that “this tournament represents one of the federation’s most important initiatives to support emerging talent programs and expand the circle of participation in official tournaments.”
He explained that “choosing the Hamdan Sports Complex to host the event is due to its world-class infrastructure and advanced equipment that make it the ideal place to hold such tournaments, whether at the local or international level.”
