In the coming days, Israel will open the Rafah crossing to allow Palestinians to leave Gaza

Israel announced that it will open the Rafah crossing in the coming days, to allow Palestinians to exit Gaza into Egypt.

The statement issued by the Coordination Committee of Government Activities in the Territories, the Israeli military body responsible for facilitating aid to Gaza, did not say whether there were any restrictions on who would be allowed to leave Gaza.

The statement did not specify a specific date for opening the Rafah crossing, according to what the Associated Press reported.

The Rafah land crossing linking Egypt and Gaza has been almost completely closed since May 2024, after Israeli forces began military operations in the southern Gaza Strip and took control of the Palestinian side of the crossing.
