A third minister leaves the Trump administration after talk of “misconduct”

The White House announced, on Monday, that US Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez Derimer has resigned from her position, adding that her deputy will assume the position acting. The announcement came against the backdrop of what was raised about “misconduct” within the Ministry of Labor.
White House Communications Director Stephen Cheung wrote in a post on the “X” platform: “Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-Dermer has resigned from the administration to take a position in the private sector.”
With her resignation, Chavez Derimer becomes the third minister to leave the administration of US President Donald Trump during the past few weeks.
Kristi Noem was removed from the position of Secretary of Homeland Security in March, and less than a month later, Pam Bondi left the position of Attorney General.
Chavez Derimer assumed the position of Minister of Labor in March 2025, after holding a seat in the US House of Representatives for two years.
A number of her aides, including her office director and his deputy, also resigned over the past few months, amid an internal investigation into allegations of “misconduct” within the ministry.
