The UAE allocates $15 million to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Sudan

Yesterday, the United Arab Emirates announced the allocation of $15 million to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, to support the humanitarian response in Sudan and neighboring countries, during the UNHCR’s pledging conference to launch the Global Humanitarian Appeal for 2026. This support comes within the framework of the UAE’s ongoing commitment to supporting communities affected by conflicts and instability.
The Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, Jamal Al-Musharrekh, affirmed the UAE’s firm commitment to supporting refugees and internally displaced people around the world. He also affirmed the UAE’s commitment to providing humanitarian aid based on principles, through the Emirates Agency for International Aid, and in close coordination with UNHCR and its partners, which contributes to supporting host communities and ensuring that displaced persons and refugees have access to basic services. He said: “Refugees and displaced persons are individuals who enjoy dignity and have the right to live in safety and hope.”
Through the UAE’s pledge of $15 million, the country aims to strengthen protection and assistance programs for those affected by the crisis in Sudan and neighboring countries, and to contribute to enhancing stability and resilience in the long term.
This aid also comes within the framework of the UAE’s firm and permanent commitment to support the efforts made to address this catastrophic crisis, and to work collectively with regional and international partners, especially with its partners in Africa, to ensure the achievement of stability and sustainable development for the brotherly Sudanese people, which confirms the values of human solidarity established by the leadership and people of the UAE.
The UAE continues its humanitarian efforts in support of the Sudanese brothers, as relief and humanitarian aid has reached 784 million US dollars since the outbreak of the conflict in 2023, as it is the second country after the United States in providing aid to Sudan since the beginning of the conflict, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, and the value of the aid provided by the state to the Sudanese people between the years 2015-2025 exceeded 4.24 billion US dollars.
