المملكة: Urgent – A wave of heavy rain begins today and continues for 6 days… and warnings of the dangers of floods

The rainy situationin most regions of the Kingdom starting today, Saturday, December 6, 2025 AD, as large areas are exposed to rainfall Thunderstorms vary between moderate and heavy, with it expected to intensify in a number of governorates in the coming days, and the possibility of torrential rains, high waves, and hail in some locations.

Forecasts issued by the National Center of Meteorology indicate that the situation will continue until Thursday, December 11, 2025 AD, within a wide air range that includes most regions of the Kingdom.

6-day rain wave

The National Center of Meteorology explained that the rainy situation extends for six days, covering the regions of the Kingdom with varying degrees of intensity, calling on everyone to follow weather reports and warnings through the Center’s website, the “Anwaa” application, and its official accounts, given the wide area of ​​the situation and the multiplicity of phenomena accompanying it.

The Tabuk region will witness, from today, Saturday, until Monday, December 8, heavy rains that will intensify over the Wenium and Al-Bidaa field on Saturday and Sunday, while Tabuk, Duba, and Taima will be affected from Sunday, December 7, until Wednesday, December 10, by Heavy rain Its intensity will extend to Sunday and Monday. Heavy rains also fall in Upper Egypt and Umluj during the same period.

Rain in Mecca and Medina

In the Medina region, rainfall begins from Sunday, December 7, and continues until Wednesday, December 10, as Al-Ula, Yanbu, Badr, and Al-Eis are exposed to heavy rains that intensify during different periods of time, while Medina, Khaybar, Al-Hanakiyah, Al-Mahd, and Wadi Al-Far’ are affected by heavy rains until Tuesday in some governorates.

As for the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region, it witnesses moderate to heavy rains from Monday to Wednesday, including the holy capital, Jeddah, Taif, Maysan, Adham, Rabigh, Khulais, Bahra, Al-Kamil, and Al-Jamoum, while Al-Layth, Al-Qunfudhah, and Al-Ardiyat are affected on Wednesday and Thursday by moderate to heavy rains, and the moderate rainfall extends to the governorates of Turaba, Al-Mawiya, and Al-Khurma.

Rain in Al-Jawf and the northern border

Al-Jawf region also begins to receive heavy rains on Qurayyat and Tabarjal on Saturday and Sunday, followed by moderate to heavy rains from Monday to Wednesday, while Sakaka and Dumat al-Jandal will witness heavy rains from Sunday to Wednesday.

In the northern borders, heavy rain falls on Turaif on Saturday and Sunday, followed by moderate to heavy rain from Monday to Wednesday, while Arar, Rafha and Al-Uwaiqila are affected by moderate to heavy rain throughout the period from Sunday to Wednesday.

Moderate rain in Asir

On Wednesday and Thursday, the Asir region records moderate rains in Abha, Khamis Mushayt, Al-Namas, Tanuma, Rijal Almaa, Bariq, Mahayil Asir, Al-Majaridah, and Belqarn. The eastern region is also exposed to moderate to heavy rains in Hafar Al-Batin and Al-Khafji in the same period. Moderate to heavy rains include the Al-Bahah region and its governorates of Baljurashi, Al-Mandaq, Qalwah, Bani Hassan, Al-Qura, Al-Makhwah, Al-Hajra, and Ghamid Al-Zanad.

Riyadh rain

In the Riyadh region, moderate rain falls on Wednesday and Thursday in Al-Dawadmi, Afif, Al-Zulfi, Al-Majma’ah, Al-Ghat, Shaqra, Thadiq, and Rumah, while from Monday to Wednesday, Al-Qassim witnesses moderate to heavy rains extending to Buraidah, Unayzah, Riyad Al-Khubara, Al-Bukayriyah, Al-Bada’i, Uyun Al-Jawa, Al-Mudhab, Al-Shamsiyah, Al-Asiyah, Abanat, Al-Rass, Uqlat Al-Suqour, Al-Nabhaniyah, and Dharayah.

The Hail region is also affected by heavy rains from Sunday to Wednesday in Hail, Al-Ghazala, Al-Shamli, Al-Jadar, Al-Shanan, Baqa’, Samira, Al-Sulaimi, and Muwaqq, while moderate rain falls in the Jazan region on Wednesday and Thursday in Al-Raith, Haroub, Al-Daer, Al-Eidabi, Faifa, Al-Ardha, and Al-Harith.

The National Center of Meteorology stated that light rain ranges between 1 and 4 mm per hour, and medium rain falls between 5 and 9 mm per hour, while heavy rain exceeds 10 – 50 mm per hour and may exceed that, accompanied by falling winds that may reach speeds of up to 60 km/hour, with the possibility of the formation of torrents, hail, and rising waves on the coasts, and the formation of tornadoes or water towers in some areas.

In a related context, the General Directorate of Civil Defense called for caution and the necessity of adhering to preventive instructions during the impact of the rainy situation, stressing the importance of staying in safe places, staying away from flood streams and valleys and not swimming in them, and adhering to the instructions announced through various media outlets and social networking sites, due to thunderstorm rains falling in the regions of the Kingdom until next Thursday.

The directorate explained that the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region will be affected by moderate to heavy rains that may lead to torrential rains, hail, and blowing winds that stir up dust and dust. It includes the Holy Capital, Jeddah, Al-Kamil, Al-Jamoum, Taif, Maysan, Adham, Rabigh, Khulais, Bahrah, Al-Layth, Al-Qunfudhah, Al-Ardiyat, Turabah, Al-Muwayyah, and Al-Khurma. Moderate rains are also recorded in the Riyadh region, including Al-Dawadmi, Afif, Al-Zulfi, Al-Majma’ah, Al-Ghat, Shaqra, Thadiq, and Rumah.

The directorate indicated that the regions of Tabuk, Medina, Al-Jawf, the northern borders, Hail, Al-Qassim, Al-Sharqiyah, and Al-Baha will be affected by moderate to heavy rains that may lead to torrential rains, hail, and blowing winds that raise dust and dust, in addition to moderate rains in the Asir and Jazan regions.

The Directorate called on everyone to adhere to safety instructions and stay away from dangerous places during rain, stressing its readiness to deal with any emergency – God willing – during the rainy situation.
