Health graduates the first batch of the training program "Vector control pathway"

The Ministry of Health and Population announced the graduation of the first batch of the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) – The vector control track, which was implemented by the Preventive Medicine Sector in cooperation with the World Health Organization and the Middle East Community Health Network, with the participation of 32 specialists from 17 governorates and the central team.
The program comes in implementation of the directives of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, to improve the skills of vector control teams and respond quickly to the risks associated with them, especially in light of the challenges resulting from the changes.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesman for the Ministry, explained that the batch underwent intensive training that lasted 6 months, which included theoretical lectures and field application in epidemiology, outbreak investigation, data analysis, writing scientific reports, field simulations, and integrated vector control, to form the nucleus of a sustainable national program that supports insect surveillance and rapid response at the global level. For his part, Dr. Amr Kandil, Deputy Minister of Health, confirmed that the program is the first of its kind in Africa and the Middle East, and represents a pioneering step that contributed to notable Egyptian achievements, including obtaining international certification of being free of malaria by 2024, and eliminating trachoma last November.
Dr. Nama Abed, representative of the World Health Organization, praised In Egypt, he recognized the Egyptian leadership in preventive medicine, stressing the organization’s continued support to enhance national capabilities in epidemiological surveillance and vector control, describing the program as an advanced model of cooperation that enhances health security regionally and internationally.
The event concluded by honoring graduates and supervisors, with an emphasis on expanding the specialized track during the coming years to support health security and confront challenges. Global.
