Al-Wahda leads the first day of the final round of the President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup

Abu Dhabi, 6 December / WAM / The final round of the His Highness the President of the State’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup began today at the Mubadala Arena in the capital, Abu Dhabi, amid an enthusiastic atmosphere and great anticipation from the fans to identify the champion of the current edition of the most expensive local championship.
At the end of today’s competitions, Al Wahda Club topped the bouts, followed by Baniyas Club in runner-up, while Al Jazira Club came in third place.
Today’s fights witnessed high levels of competitiveness, as the players presented strong performances that reflected the physical and technical readiness of the competing clubs and academies, under a professional organization that reflects the status of the tournament and its role in raising the level of the game on the local scene.
His Excellency Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice President of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said: “The first day of the final round is an important station for the players and clubs, as it puts everyone before a real test of their technical and mental abilities before the decisive stage tomorrow. The competitions reflect the level of development reached by the participating clubs and academies, whether in terms of the quality of preparation or the accuracy of tactical application on the mat.”
He added: “The tournament has a special status that encourages players to give their best. The federation’s great role in developing the technical and administrative work system is clearly evident in the high level of competitions and the players’ ability to compete according to the highest standards. We are facing an awaited final day tomorrow, and we are very confident that it will witness fights as important as the tournament and its artistic and moral value.”
In turn, Rafael Vega, coach of Al Ain Club, said: “We are participating in the tournament with about 20 players, and our preparations for the final round were at the highest level, with a great focus on the technical and physical details that make the difference in the knockout rounds. The players entered the first day with a fixed mentality and full awareness of the importance of the round, and showed a clear commitment to the established plan. We realize that the competition is difficult, but the players’ performance today reflects their readiness and ability to reach the furthest point. We will invest what was achieved today to strengthen our confidence in the competitions.” Tomorrow, we are working to confront any challenges to ensure competition for the title.”
Abdul Rahman Abdul Haq, the under-62 kg Baniyas Club player, said: “The fights were strong and fast-paced, but we prepared well for this moment and succeeded in implementing most of the aspects that we had trained on over the past weeks. We believe in our ability to compete until the last minute, and we are keen to deliver a performance that reflects the value of the club’s slogan, the confidence of the technical staff, and the hopes of our fans.”
