12 soldiers were arrested in Benin, including the perpetrators of the coup attempt

Twelve soldiers were arrested on Sunday in Benin, according to what military and security sources reported to Agence France-Presse, after a coup attempt that took place in the morning in Cotonou, the economic capital of the country, and the government confirmed that it had thwarted it.

A military source spoke of the arrest of 13 people, while another source explained that “all the detainees are military personnel, one of whom had previously been discharged from our ranks.” A security source reported that the perpetrators of the coup attempt were among those detained.
