المملكة: The Food and Drug Administration prohibits exclusive cash dealing and requires its establishments to pay electronically immediately

Directed All outlets that deal directly with the final consumer, in implementation of the decision of the Council of Ministers and in line with the national trend towards complete digital financial transformation.

The Authority hereby prohibited any commercial practice under its supervision from being limited to cash, imposing the presence of digital payment options as a basic condition for operation and receiving the public, in a step aimed at facilitating consumers and controlling financial transactions.

Activating the Cabinet’s decision

This move comes in implementation of Cabinet Resolution No. “127” obliging commercial activities to provide electronic payment solutions, as the Authority stressed in its latest circular issued in mid-November 2025 that compliance with this decision is no longer an option but rather a legal entitlement that exposes violators to accountability.

The decision includes a wide spectrum of vital activities that affect the citizen’s daily life, starting from pharmacies and food stores to outlets selling medical devices and beauty centers subject to To the Authority, which ensures the elimination of “Cash Payment Only” signs in these sensitive sectors.
