The Livestock Breeders Forum in Sharjah discusses mechanisms for developing local production

Sharjah, 11 December / WAM / The “Livestock Breeders Forum… Towards Community Service and Enhancing Food Security,” which was organized by the Department of Agriculture and Livestock in Sharjah today at Sharjah Media City “Shams,” with the participation of project owners, specialized companies, and academic institutions, discussed the needs and proposals of livestock breeders, and exchanged experiences and learned about challenges and mechanisms for developing local production and maintaining the health of livestock.

The forum was attended by His Excellency Dr. Engineer Khalifa Musabih Al Taniji, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, His Excellency Salem Abdullah Al Kaabi, Director of the Department, His Excellency Salem Ali Salem Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Municipal Council of Sharjah City, and a number of department directors, along with representatives of the relevant governmental and academic agencies and bodies, and livestock breeders “stanial owners” in Sharjah.

The forum aims to enhance effective communication between relevant government agencies and the private sector with livestock breeders and to encourage investment, innovation, cooperation and integration between all entities, which contributes to the development of local production mechanisms.

During the forum, the Department of Agriculture and Livestock announced a package of services that contribute to empowering animal breeders, and ways to obtain them.

His Excellency Dr. Engineer Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji stressed that the forum aims to learn about the challenges faced by livestock breeders, to exchange experiences and learn about innovations and technical developments that contribute to maintaining the health of livestock and improving production, noting that Sharjah is making great efforts to develop the animal production sector within the framework of achieving the goals of the emirate’s strategy for food security.

His Excellency explained that the department seeks, within its strategic plan, to encourage investment in food projects, in cooperation with the private sector, based on the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasim, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, in enabling agricultural and animal production, and encouraging livestock breeders.

During its sessions, the forum reviewed many successful experiments and opportunities to develop mechanisms to enhance the building of a more innovative and sustainable animal production system, in addition to displaying the products of productive families and projects for livestock breeders that received numerous awards in innovative production techniques and companies specialized in veterinary and fodder.
