Jennifer Lawrence returns to the series “Sunrise on the Reaping”… again
International star Jennifer Lawrence has begun filming preparations for the new part of the “Sunrise on the Reaping” film series. The announcement of her return to play the character “Katniss Everdeen” was a pleasant surprise for fans of the film, along with star Josh Hutcherson, famous for the character “Peeta Mellark.”
According to the Hollywood Reporter website, the new part will be shown in November 2026, and is titled: “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping,” produced by Lionsgate, and adapted from the latest novel by author Suzanne Collins.

The events of the movie “Sunrise on the Reaping” take place 24 years before the events of the main series, yet the novel includes a scene in which “Mellark” and “Katniss” appear listening to what “Haymitch Abernathy” says about his experience in the 50th Games.
The return of the character “Hutcherson” to work was not surprising, as the star of the movie “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” was previously asked about the possibility of his return to the series, confirming that it is wonderful to return to that world that he will continue to love.

Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence also received her seventh nomination for the 2025 Golden Globe Award, for the movie “Die My Love” produced by “Mubi,” in the category of Best Actress in a Drama Film. If she wins the award, she will have won her fourth Golden Globe Award.
Director Francis Lawrence will return to direct the new part of the movie “Sunrise on the Reaping”, after directing four out of the previous five films in the series, while Billy Ray wrote the script, and Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson are managing the production for Color Force, while Cameron McConomy serves as executive producer.

The film follows the annual event known as the Hunger Games, in which representatives from each district in Panem are forced to fight battles to the death. The work focuses on exploring the fictional country of Panem 24 years before the events of the Katniss saga, highlighting the story of 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy, the future mentor of Katniss Everdeen from District 12, who is unexpectedly chosen to participate in the 50th edition of the Games, known as “The Second Repressive Quarter,” in addition to highlighting his relationship with a girl named “Lenore Dove.”
