Al-Tamimi apologizes to Al-Nasr fans after bidding farewell to the Professional Cup

Al-Nasr goalkeeper Abdullah Al-Tamimi apologized to Al-Ameed fans for bidding farewell to the Professional League Cup (Abu Dhabi Bank Cup) despite his team’s 2-0 victory over Al-Ain, yesterday, in the second leg of the semi-finals. However, Al-Ain reserved its seat as a second team alongside Al-Wahda in the final match, benefiting from its victory in the first leg by three goals for nothing. Al-Tamimi replaced his colleague Ahmed Chambeh in the 15th minute following an injury suffered by the main goalkeeper in the neck, after colliding with fellow defender Gustavo Alex, and he was transferred from the field to the hospital.

Abdullah Al-Tamimi said in statements after the match: “We have to admit that the result of the first leg had a negative impact on Al-Nasr. Losing by three goals is a big result, but despite that, the players tried and we scored two goals, but unfortunately they were not enough to compensate for the first-leg result.”

He added: “What Al-Nasr presented against Al-Ain will be a strong motivation for the players to provide a better level in the league championship, and an attempt to compete for one of the advanced positions in the league ranking table.”

Al-Nasr was close to achieving the biggest surprises in the Abu Dhabi Bank Cup after it surprised Al-Ain with a courageous performance. It entered the match with the best possible start when it took the lead with a goal through Bernard Mensah from a long-range shot that goalkeeper Khaled Issa did not succeed in dealing with (5). However, Al-Ain suddenly retreated after this start and allowed Al-Ain to return to the match and threaten his goal with three scoring opportunities in the first half, but they lacked the final touch from Al-Ain’s stars.

Al-Nasr was active again for most of the second half, and was able to score a second goal after a perfect cross from Zayed Al-Zaabi, which Ramon Merez pounced on and deposited into the net (65).

Al-Nasriya’s attempts continued to score a third goal, but they did not succeed in achieving their goal due to the stability of Al-Ain’s defense line in particular in the last minutes.

Thus, Al Ain will face Al Wahda in the final of the tournament in one of the most important and prominent confrontations at the local football level, the date of which has not been officially determined yet.

Commenting on this confrontation, Al Ain midfielder Abdullah Traoré considered it an ordinary match, even if it seemed important in that it was a final match.

He said in press statements: “It is still too early to think about this confrontation, and the important thing is that we qualified. It is true that qualification came after a loss to Al-Nasr, but each match has its own circumstances.”
