Winter vacation is an opportunity to discover skills and strengthen family bonding

Educators called for investing the winter vacation and benefiting from it in developing students’ skills and abilities, giving a set of advice to school students and their families to exploit the vacation in useful cultural, sports, and recreational activities, increasing family sessions, family trips, and practicing joint activities.

The Ministry of Education announced the launch of winter camp activities for the academic year 2025-2026, during the period from the eighth of December to the fourth of January 2026, with the aim of providing a rich educational and training environment, the effects of which extend beyond the classroom, by investing students’ leave in qualitative programs that open new horizons for learning and experience before them.

Educators confirmed that the activities that parents engage in with their children during holidays and holiday periods enhance rapprochement and friendship between them, which protects them from dangers and deviation.

It is also an opportunity to learn about the activities and events that the country is full of during this period. They called for taking advantage of the educational and training activities provided by educational authorities in the country during the school holidays to enhance the comprehensive development of students and prepare them for success in the future.

The psychologist, Maryam Al-Ahmad, said that practicing joint activities between members of the same family increases the level of psychological health among parents and children, strengthens the family relationship among them, and enhances familiarity. Therefore, school holidays are an opportunity for parents to take advantage of them with their children, especially since they fall during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, which allows more free time for all family members, which can be used in artistic activities and handicrafts that help children discover themselves away from social media and electronic games.

The social worker, Muhammad Ali, confirmed that the holidays during the semesters provide a wonderful opportunity for students to rest, so parents must be careful to exploit them in positive activities, not to leave their children prey to electronic games, and to exploit this period to enhance communication between family members. He said: “There are steps that can be followed, as joint activities can be identified that bring family members together, such as sports, arts, or even cooking, especially since these activities are not just for fun, but rather strengthen family communication and enhance personal and social skills,” pointing out that this leave can also be used to stimulate reading and acquire knowledge, which contributes to developing their skills, and tourist trips can also be organized to learn about the country’s most important historical and cultural landmarks.

In turn, the human development trainer, Ahmed Saeed, pointed out that families must prepare social and recreational programs and activities for their children, during school vacations between semesters and summer vacation, and that these activities should vary between travel and tourism, in addition to educational activities to use free time effectively, to acquire knowledge and skills.
