After the success of its Turkish version…a new version of the series “Prestige”

The success of the “Prestige” series, which was shown over five seasons, did not stop in 2021, during which the last season of the famous series concluded. The impact of the work extended abroad, and since the previous year a Turkish version of it was presented, bearing the name “The Distant City,” which is still achieving unprecedented success at all, and topping the list of views of Turkish works every week.

In continuation of this success, Al-Sabah Brothers Company officially announced the start of filming a new Moroccan version of “Al-Haiba”, bearing the name “Ras Al-Jabal”.

In details, the Moroccan work will be directed by Ayoub Lahnoud, and the script will be written by Basma Al-Hajri. It will star in the most important drama stars in Morocco, namely: Asaad Bawab, Heba Bennani, Amin Al-Naji, Noura Al-Sakli, Salwa Zerhan, Osama Al-Bastawi, and Nasser Akbab, with a large group of actors in Morocco.

According to what Al-Sabah Brothers Company, the producer of the original series and the new version of it, announced, the story of the Moroccan work revolves around a woman named “Yasmina,” who is forced to return from Montreal. To bury her husband in his hometown of “Ras al-Jabal,” but circumstances force her to stay in this town next to her child, the family heir, so that this woman enters a reality completely different from the one she lived previously, and she is forced to adhere to customs and traditions that she was not accustomed to before. She is also involved in disputes and conflicts with her husband’s family, “Fadlawi,” that has nothing to do with her in the first place.

It is expected that the series will be shown on one of the Arab satellite channels, during the Ramadan 2026 drama season. It has not been officially announced that the Moroccan series can be shown across multiple seasons, as happened in the original work, and the Turkish version of it, of which the second season is being shown these days.

“The Distant City” sweeps through two seasons:

Contrary to all expectations, the series “The Distant City”, adapted from the series “Al-Haiba”, was officially able to break away from all the Turkish series that were shown at the same time, and the tremendous success achieved by the work prompted its makers to launch another season of it, maintaining the same success and high viewership rates, at a time when major stars failed to continue their work and were forced to stop it early, led by the star Handa Erçel.

The impact of the work in Turkey and abroad extended far beyond being just a story, shown on the screen. The city of Mardin, in which the work is filmed, has witnessed a large and historic doubling in the number of tourists and visitors, and is now witnessing a very large tourist movement, reaching very large numbers, as tourists come to see the locations in which the series is filmed, in addition to attending filming, and seizing the opportunity to take pictures with the heroes of the work.

The events of “The Distant City” revolve around a young woman who lives a stable life, far from her hometown, but she is forced to return to a remote city that carries painful memories and old family secrets. This return opens the doors of the past with all its unhealed wounds, family conflicts, and unresolved relationships.

The series stars: Ozan Akbaba and Sinem Unsal, who are very famous around the world, especially in the Arab world, and a group of famous Turkish actors also participate in it.
