His Excellency explained, during his participation in the Northern Border Investment Forum, within the main dialogue session with the participation of a number of His Excellencies entitled: “From Orientation to Empowerment… A Ministerial Vision for the Future of Investment,” that the environment, water and agriculture system places as its priorities serving all beneficiaries, providing the best services with high quality and efficiency, and working to achieve sustainable development by developing development projects and promoting Investment opportunities in various sectors.
The most important qualitative achievements in the northern border
Engineer Al-Mushaiti indicated that the Ministry has achieved qualitative achievements in the northern border region in Environmental sectors, water and agriculture, as the environment sector witnessed a decrease in degraded lands from 167 thousand hectares in 2015 to 89 thousand hectares in 2023, the rehabilitation of more than 60 thousand hectares, the planting of about a million trees, and the dispersal of 9 tons of pastoral seeds over an area of more than 3,700 hectares, in addition to the rehabilitation of Ma’ila National Park with a completion rate of more than 70%, to become an investment opportunity with an area of 14,167,280 hectares. m², in addition to offering 18 other environmental investment opportunities.
His Excellency added that the water sector in the region witnessed the implementation of a package of vital projects worth more than 2.2 billion riyals, which included the implementation of 556 km of water transmission and distribution networks, 174 km of sewage networks, the construction of reservoirs with a capacity of 61,500 m³, and water stations with a design capacity of 25,000 m²/day, in addition to doubling water pumping from 43,000 to 82,000 m³/day, in addition to offering the Arar water tower project with a surrounding garden, which represents an investment opportunity.
Agricultural support and subsidies
His Excellency indicated that the total support provided to the region through the agricultural subsidy program amounted to about 193 million riyals, while support for the Saudi Rural Program exceeded 186 million riyals, benefiting more than 8,402 beneficiaries of the rural development program, including 6,361 women. The support also included providing funds worth 255 million riyals to support animal and agricultural production, establishing a model veterinary unit, implementing vaccination programs to combat epidemic diseases for more than 5.2 million heads of livestock, in addition to planting 150,000 trees in parks and pastures, and offering 6 agricultural investment projects with a total area of 150,509 square meters.
His Excellency Engineer Al-Mushaiti concluded his speech by emphasizing that the northern border region today provides an environment Promising for investment, supported by a strong infrastructure and various opportunities in the environment, water and agricultural sectors, indicating that investment in it achieves sustainable economic and development returns, and that the agricultural and environmental future in the region has already begun.
