Today.. the opening ceremony of the seventh session of the Cairo International Short Film Festival

The opening ceremony of the seventh session of the Cairo International Short Film Festival will begin this evening, at the Small Theater in the Cairo Opera House, which will be held during the period from 16 to 21 December, amid a large Arab and international cinema presence.

 

 

The seventh session reveals a diverse artistic program that reflects the richness of contemporary cinematic experiences, as 54 short films participate in it. From different parts of the world, all of them compete in six official competitions designed to support cultural diversity, highlight new voices, and discover promising talents in the fields of Arab and international cinema, in addition to the Cairo Film Platform in its first session.

 

 

The participating films compete for 12 official awards bearing the name “The Tower.” The “Golden”” and “Silver Tower” awards are the awards given by the festival annually in recognition of artistic creativity and directorial and technical excellence, through various approved competitions.

 

The “International Film” competition tops the official program of the festival, with the participation of 13 short films from multiple countries, whose makers compete for two awards. “The Golden Tower” for best film, and “The Silver Tower” for the special jury, and the competition’s jury includes producer and director Mohamed Hefzy, director Hala Khalil, and star Aisha Bin Ahmed.

 

As for the “Arab Film” competition, it witnesses participation 10 short films representing the countries of the Arab world, governed by a committee that includes star Basma, Tunisian director Maryam Ferjani, and producer Atef Abdel Latif, within the framework of the festival’s interest in strengthening the Arab presence on the map of short cinema.

 

 

The seventh session pays special attention to documentary cinema through the “documentary film” competition, which includes 10 short films, It is supervised by a jury that includes director Mohamed Rashad, director Nada Riad, and editor Heba Othman, in a clear confirmation of the role of documentary film in expressing humanitarian issues and contemporary reality.

 

 

The Cairo International Short Film Festival is chaired by director Waheed Sobhi, artist and film critic Ahmed El Nabawy, director of the festival, while journalist Tamer Bagato holds the position of director. ‏‏Executive Director, in addition to the general supervision of the Cairo Film Platform in its first session, film critic Ahmed Al-Mesiri.
