"Dubai Culture": The UAE consolidates the position of the Arabic language globally


Dubai, December 17, 2017 – Hala Badri, Director General of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, confirmed that the Arabic language constitutes one of the pillars of human civilization and a rich incubator for knowledge, culture and arts, which reflects the importance of its role in developing human cultural content. She praised the country’s efforts and its keenness to preserve and protect the Arabic language, promote it in various fields, and consolidate its global position as a bridge for communication and constructive dialogue between cultures.
She said, in a statement today on the occasion of World Arabic Language Day, which falls on December 18 of each year: The Arabic language is the pillar of culture, the language of creativity and innovation, a mirror that reflects the richness of our cultural and knowledge stock, and a major and influential tool for expressing our authentic heritage and national identity. World Arabic Language Day represents an exceptional occasion to celebrate our language and highlight its aesthetics, its flexibility and contributions to various sciences and knowledge, and its ability to keep pace with the advanced technical and technological developments that we are witnessing today.
She pointed out that Dubai Culture, through its innovative initiatives and cultural events, continues to create a creative environment capable of supporting and empowering local talents in literature, translation and publishing, opening horizons for poets and writers, and motivating them to enrich the local cultural scene.
Badri added: The Authority also works, through its various projects and programs, to develop the Arabic language, enhance its presence in society, encourage the culture of reading, and develop expression skills in future generations.
