Egyptian Minister of Youth: Cairo’s hosting of the Zayed Charity Marathon reflects the depth of the established relations between Egypt and the Emirates
Cairo, December 18 / WAM / Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, confirmed that the tenth edition of the Zayed Charity Marathon, scheduled to be held on December 26, in Sheikh Zayed City in Giza Governorate, is considered one of the most prominent sporting events with a humanitarian dimension, because of the sublime message it carries in supporting the sick and the needy, noting that Egypt’s hosting of the marathon reflects the depth of the established historical relations that bring together the two brotherly countries, Egypt and the Emirates, The position of the Egyptian state as a distinguished destination for organizing major sporting events.
Sobhi stressed that the implementation of the marathon comes within the framework of the distinguished fraternal relations between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, and the fruitful cooperation between the two sides in implementing joint sports and humanitarian initiatives.
This came in a statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports today, following an expanded meeting held by the minister with a number of the ministry’s leaders and organizers, to discuss and follow up on the latest preparations for organizing the marathon, whose total prizes reach 20 million pounds.
The meeting reviewed all the preparations for implementing the marathon, in addition to discussing the organizational and technical aspects of the event, including starting places, race routes, and participation mechanisms for different age groups, as well as advertising and marketing arrangements, medical supervision, and insurance procedures, to ensure that the marathon takes place in a manner befitting its value and status.
It is noteworthy that the Zayed Charity Marathon is held annually with wide participation from all ages, and its proceeds are allocated to support a number of charitable projects and initiatives, within the framework of enhancing the role of sport in serving society and spreading the values of charity and giving.
