15 thousand books on language sciences.. The library of the Prophet’s Mosque enhances the presence of Arabic


Great care has been taken since its re-establishment during the reign of the founding king – may God have mercy on him – in the year 1352 AH corresponding to 1933 AD, so that it becomes a scientific beacon that serves students of knowledge, researchers, and visitors to the mosque, and contributes to preserving the Islamic heritage and disseminating legal and linguistic knowledge.

The library of the Prophet’s Mosque today contains more than 15 thousand books specialized in the sciences of the Arabic language, including grammar, morphology, rhetoric, literature, and philology, in addition to explanations. And footnotes, heritage works, and modern studies, making it an important scientific reference for scholars and those interested in the Arabic language as the language of the Holy Qur’an and the vessel of Islamic sciences.

International Arabic Language Day

The importance of the library of the Prophet’s Mosque is evident on the International Arabic Language Day, as a scientific incubator that has contributed throughout its history to serving the Arabic language, preserving its sciences, and linking it to its cultural and religious context, by making its scientific sources available to pioneers. The library’s departments include an integrated system of scientific services, including reading rooms, a manuscripts department that includes rare scientific treasures, an audio department for documenting lessons and sermons, and a technical department for binding, restoring, and sterilizing manuscripts, in addition to indexing, classification, supply, periodicals, and a digital library that provides electronic research, with supporting units aimed at facilitating access to knowledge and enhancing its use.

The mission of the Prophet’s Mosque Library stems from preserving the Islamic heritage, promoting knowledge, and providing a distinguished scientific environment that meets the needs of visitors to the Prophet’s Mosque, thus enhancing its position as a scientific beacon that combines authenticity and modernity, and works to highlight the Arabic language and its pivotal role in enhancing awareness and disseminating knowledge.
