Hamdan bin Mohammed meets with Elon Musk and reviews with him the prospects for technological development

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, met yesterday with Elon Musk, CEO of X, SpaceX, Tesla, and Starlink.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said in a post on “X”: “I am happy to meet Elon Musk in Dubai, where we exchanged visions about the space sector, rapid technological developments, and applications of artificial intelligence, in a way that supports comprehensive development paths and improves the quality of life. During the meeting, we stressed our pride in the partnerships that bring together the United Arab Emirates with global economic leaders and change makers, based on our belief that cooperation is the true engine of progress, and that the next stage requires an integrated partnership between the government and private sectors. In Dubai, we are working to consolidate the emirate’s position as a global capital of the digital economy, through a sustainable future system that places people at the heart of development, and establishes promising opportunities for future generations in the Emirates and the world.

Which took place in His Highness’s council in Nad Al Sheba, the large-scale technological development that the world is witnessing, and Musk is one of its most prominent symbols, and ways to benefit from new solutions and applications in serving comprehensive development processes and supporting human beings’ ability to overcome the various challenges they face in various fields, and enhancing their ability to reach a better future full of opportunities for progress and prosperity.

The distinguished position of the UAE and Dubai as a global center for technology and innovation was also discussed, and its growing role in this field through a comprehensive vision based on building partnerships with the most important technology makers and developers around the world, creating legislative and regulatory frameworks that keep pace with global technical progress, and providing incentives that would attract specialized talents and competencies capable of contributing ideas and creativity that serve to advance the process of comprehensive and sustainable development.

The discussion discussed the most important components that made the UAE a major center for technology in the region, with the capabilities it provides that place it within the reach of its thriving technical community, the most important of which is the advanced digital infrastructure that has been invested for years in establishing and ensuring the highest levels of efficiency, in keeping with the requirements of the digital economy for which Dubai seeks to be a global capital.

The meeting reviewed the most important features of the ambitious strategy adopted by Dubai and the UAE in the field of artificial intelligence and future technologies, which aims to employ innovation and advanced technology to improve the quality of life, enhance the competitiveness of the national economy, and consolidate the UAE’s position at the forefront of the world’s leading countries in this field.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum stressed that Dubai continues to provide an environment conducive to innovation, based on flexible legislation, effective partnerships, and investment in minds, in a way that supports its growing technical community and contributes to creating a more sustainable and prosperous future.

For his part, Elon Musk praised the future vision pursued by the UAE, and the advanced steps it has achieved in the fields of technology, artificial intelligence, and space discovery, expressing his wishes for the UAE, its wise leadership, and its generous people for further progress and prosperity.

The meeting was attended by Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, Deputy Managing Director of the Dubai Future Foundation, and Director General of the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai, Hilal Saeed Al Marri.
