المملكة: Abqaiq: 170,000 flowers decorating the streets and maintaining 350,000 meters of surfaces

Revealed The Municipality of Abqaiq Governorate planted more than 173 thousand seedlings of various seasonal trees and flowers during Planting season for the year 2025, in a step aimed at enhancing environmental sustainability and improving the urban landscape, in line with the objectives of the “Our East is Green” initiative to raise the quality of life.
Field work included planting 3,500 carefully selected trees, in addition to planting 170,000 seasonal flowers that decorated the streets and Public gardensand agricultural basins, to expand the green area in the governorate.
Precise standards
The mayor, Engineer Muhammad Al-Dhafiri, explained that the selection of plant varieties was subject to precise standards that focus on environmental and aesthetic efficiency, with priority given to shade trees that are compatible with the nature of the climatic region.
The list of trees that were planted included various varieties that included neem, ficus, orzo, and cassia. Glauca, ficus, poinciana, bougainvillea, and jatropha, to ensure improved air quality and a sustainable aesthetic character.
Comprehensive maintenance program
The afforestation campaign coincided with the implementation of a comprehensive maintenance program for public facilities, which included the rehabilitation of 1,700 square meters of children’s play areas, and the maintenance of 300 square meters of awnings, to ensure the safety and comfort of visitors.
The maintenance work covered green areas Its area exceeded 350,000 square metres, in order to raise the operational efficiency of these facilities and ensure their sustainability as natural outlets for residents and visitors.
These intensive efforts come within the municipality’s strategic plan in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which seeks to enhance vegetation cover and encourage community participation in preserving environmental gains.
