Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi Council discusses environmental disaster management

Fujairah, December 24 / WAM / Today, the Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi Council organized an awareness session entitled: “Confronting Environmental Crises and Disasters: Challenges and Solutions” at the Murashid Council in Fujairah, presented by Hamid Abdullah Al Yamahi, Director of the Fujairah Center at the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, as part of the Council’s ongoing efforts to enhance community awareness of the importance of advance planning and individual and community preparedness to confront environmental disasters.

The session touched on a number of main topics, most notably understanding environmental disasters and their causes, community preparedness, personal emergency planning, and the role of technology in confronting disasters, in addition to the importance of teamwork and community participation in recovery and rebuilding. The role of individuals and communities in preparing emergency plans and preparing basic supplies, as well as the importance of cooperation and voluntary participation to confront environmental challenges, was also reviewed.

The session aimed to enhance awareness of the importance of advance planning to reduce the impact of environmental disasters, and to emphasize the role of community and volunteer work in supporting emergency preparedness, and building a more resilient society capable of adapting to environmental changes.

His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Naieh Al Tunaiji, Director of the Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi Council, stressed the council’s keenness to present and discuss national issues, in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, aimed at spreading cognitive and development awareness among members of society, and enhancing community participation to build a sustainable society.

The session witnessed the presence of the people of the region and those interested in environmental and societal affairs.
