2,338 players inaugurate the dream of the World Youth Karate League in Fujairah

The Emirates Karate Federation announced the participation of 2,338 male and female players, from 93 countries, in the World Youth Karate League, which begins tomorrow at the Zayed Sports Complex in the Emirate of Fujairah, and extends until February 15th.
This came in the press conference held yesterday, in Fujairah, and was attended by the First Vice President of the Emirates Karate Federation, the Vice President of the Asian Federation, a member of the Executive Office of the International Federation, the Vice President of the Supreme Organizing Committee, Rashid Abdul Majeed Al Ali, the Secretary General of the Emirati and Arab Karate Federations, the Director of the Championship, Engineer Hamid Shams, the Assistant Secretary General of the Karate Federation, and the General Coordinator of the Championship, Dr. Abdullah Saif Al Badi.
In his speech at the conference, Al Ali stressed that the new records witnessed by the tournament reflect the status of the tournaments hosted by the UAE and the Emirate of Fujairah as a global destination for combat sports.
Al Ali said in his review of the numbers witnessed in the Fujairah 2026 edition: “In addition to the numbers of registered players, there are 436 referees within the stages accompanying the event, and 159 international referees to manage the competition, in addition to 505 accredited coaches, in a new confirmation of the confidence enjoyed by the international tournaments that are held on the territory of the country.”
He added: “The tournament is enjoying great media and community momentum, which reflects the status of the Emirate of Fujairah and its role in supporting combat sports and enhancing the presence of karate at the state level.”
He continued, “The leadership of Major General (M) Nasser Abdul Razzaq Al Razouqi, President of the Emirati and Asian Federations, Vice President of the International Federation and Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the Championship, contributed to strengthening institutional work and building distinguished relations with the International Federation, which helped achieve these successes over the past editions in Fujairah, which is what we look forward to achieving in more successes in the new edition.”
In turn, Engineer Hamid Shams Al Zarouni, tournament director, explained that Fujairah’s hosting of the tournament for the fourth year in a row confirms its status as a global capital for combat sports, pointing out that the continued success comes as a result of the advanced infrastructure and professional organization that distinguishes the emirate and the Zayed Sports Complex.
For his part, Dr. Abdullah Al-Badi, General Coordinator of the tournament, confirmed that the record numbers of participation reflect the rapid growth of the tournament and the confidence of international federations in it, noting that the 2026 edition is the largest in terms of the number of participants and geographical diversity.
He pointed out that the event will witness many surprises and accompanying events, including raffles for travel tickets to Mumbai and Kannur offered by Fujairah International Airport for attendees and visitors, in addition to achieving great benefits for the sport of karate at the local and international levels, which makes the World Youth Karate League Championship 2026 a prominent international sporting event.
