Road map and closing times for the streets surrounding Burj Khalifa and the celebration areas on New Year’s

Hussein Al-Banna, Executive Director of the Traffic and Roads Agency at the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, said that traffic closures will begin around the Burj Khalifa celebration area starting at four in the evening, and will continue gradually until eleven in the evening, and include a number of vital streets, including: Al Asayel Street, Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, Burj Khalifa Street, the Financial Center Street (lower and upper), Al Mostaqbal Street, Al Sukuk Street, and Sheikh Zayed Road, in order to prevent… Severe congestion and ensuring the smooth flow of traffic and the safety of the public.

Al-Banna added in a press conference of the Events Security Committee held at the General Command of Civil Defense in Dubai that the available parking spaces include about 20,000 parking spaces in the Burj Khalifa area, in addition to about 8,000 parking spaces in the metro station parking lots, in addition to other supportive parking spaces outside the event area, such as: Al Wasl Club parking lots, and Al-Kifaf parking lots (the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs parking lots).

Al-Banna confirmed that the Authority has raised the readiness of all public transportation means to meet the expected increase in the number of users, most notably the Dubai Metro, as more than 14,000 taxis, more than 18,000 limousines and luxury transport vehicles, and more than 1,300 buses, in addition to other means, will be operated, with the support of 10 control centers and 26 traffic diversion vehicles distributed across various vital locations.

He continued that the operation of the Dubai Metro on the Red and Green Lines and the Dubai Tram will continue for 43 hours, as the metro operation will begin from five in the morning on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, and will continue until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, January 1, 2026, while the Dubai Tram will operate from six in the morning on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 until one in the morning on Friday, January 2, 2026, in order to facilitate public access to the celebration sites and ensure Smooth check-out after events.

Al-Banna explained that traffic signals will be controlled and monitored through traffic control centers on a number of main streets, with warning and guidance panels for pedestrians and road users installed, and variable smart screens activated to alert the public of closures, alternative roads and parking lots, in order to preserve public safety and ensure the smooth flow of movement.

He pointed out the participation of more than 5,500 employees from the Roads and Transport Authority to support the event on the ground, and coordinate with partners and coordinators from the relevant authorities to implement operational plans and manage crowd movement efficiently.
