Opening of 16 new parks in the Al Shamkha area in Abu Dhabi

The Department of Municipalities and Transport opened 16 new parks in the Al Shamkha area in Abu Dhabi, as part of its strategy aimed at enhancing the quality of life and building vibrant communities.
The opening of these new recreational spaces confirms the department’s commitment to providing modern, accessible public facilities equipped with all services, as the parks include large green spaces, eight areas designated for fitness, 25 sports fields, and 26 comprehensive play areas designed for children, in addition to walking paths and seating areas, with the aim of encouraging visitors of all ages to adopt active and healthy lifestyles.
Engineer Khalifa Abdullah Al Qamzi, head of the project implementation team for the regions – Abu Dhabi in the Department of Municipalities and Transport, said: “We were keen to carefully design these parks in line with our goal of enhancing the quality of life of residents by providing a safe and enjoyable environment for relaxation, socializing, and practicing outdoor activities. In line with the objectives of the Year of Community, we seek to make these entertainment areas vital centers for strengthening community ties, encouraging communication, and establishing a sense of community belonging.”
The new parks in Al Shamkha are the latest community spaces opened by the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi during the year 2025, after the opening of new parks in Al Falah and Mohammed bin Zayed City, as part of its efforts to develop quiet, integrated neighborhoods whose residents enjoy the highest levels of health and living well-being in the emirate.
