Dubai Humanitarian Center operates an air shipment to transport medical relief supplies to Afghanistan

Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, Dubai Humanitarian Agency flew a relief air shipment to Kabul in Afghanistan, transporting 96 metric tons of life-saving medicines and medical supplies, in support of communities affected by the ongoing humanitarian needs there.

The shipment departed from Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport, carrying relief materials from the stocks of the World Health Organization, Doctors Without Borders, and UNICEF, sufficient to support more than 250,000 people over a period of three months, by contributing to the provision of basic health care services.

Giuseppe Saba, Executive Director and Board Member of Dubai Humanitarian, said: “This shipment to Afghanistan exemplifies the ability of the humanitarian community to continually adapt in aid delivery mechanisms, in response to rapid changes on the ground. While some operations continue through existing routes, other operations require the rapid identification and activation of new corridors, by air, land, or through multi-modal logistical solutions. Our goal is to ensure that life-saving medicines and relief materials continue to reach those most in need.

He added: “Through continuous coordination with relevant government agencies, humanitarian partners, and logistics providers, we can together overcome operational challenges and identify practical solutions that ensure the smooth flow of aid. The recent ground convoys to Gaza and Lebanon, along with this air shipment to Afghanistan, demonstrate the importance of coordination in mobilizing multiple means of transportation simultaneously to maintain the sustainability of the humanitarian response to emergency crises.”

Dubai Humanitarian Center continues to support its community, which includes 80 members from United Nations agencies, international organizations, non-profit organizations, and commercial companies, as in the past two weeks it sent shipments carrying 140 metric tons of relief materials to Lebanon, Gaza, and Afghanistan.
