The broader Standard & Poor’s 500 index of US stocks rose by (0.1%) at the beginning of today’s trading, maintaining its slight gains for this week.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average saw no significant change, while the Nasdaq Composite Index rose by (0.2%), supported by gains in the shares of many major technology companies such as Nvidia electronic chips.
At the same time, crude oil prices fell, while gold and silver prices continued to rise.
Trading was expected to be light at the end of the week, which was shortened due to the Christmas holiday, as most European markets were closed, as were many Asian markets.
