Shumukh Group signs a memorandum of understanding with the company "Peat moss" To promote sustainable agriculture

Al Ain, December 30 / WAM / The Shumukh Al Ezz Group, headed by Dr. Mohammed bin Muslim bin Ham Al Ameri, signed this morning a strategic memorandum of understanding with the American company PittMoss, which specializes in developing innovative agricultural media free of traditional materials used in agriculture such as peat (which is decomposed organic plant soil), in an important step within the group’s efforts to promote sustainable agriculture in the UAE and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
The memorandum aims to explore opportunities for technology transfer, product testing, and the possibility of local manufacturing of these soils and agricultural amendments in the Emirates, which contributes to supporting food security and improving agricultural production using environmentally friendly methods.
Bin Ham said that this partnership represents an important strategic step towards promoting sustainable agriculture in the Emirates, and we hope that it will contribute to raising resource efficiency and water conservation, in addition to supporting the healthy and environmentally safe growth of plants, in line with our country’s vision for sustainability and agricultural development.
For his part, Brian Scott, CEO of Bitmos, explained that the memorandum reflects the company’s commitment to providing innovative and environmentally responsible solutions, and strengthens its global efforts in confronting the challenges of food security and water resources.
Under the MoU, the two companies will collaborate on testing organic and lightweight growing media that provide better aeration, higher moisture retention, and improved nutrient delivery to plants, contributing to healthy plant growth and reduced water and fertilizer consumption. The memorandum also includes the possibility of establishing regional manufacturing facilities to facilitate the provision of products locally.
It is noteworthy that, to date, Peatmos has contributed to recycling thousands of tons of paper and cardboard waste, which has reduced carbon dioxide emissions and provided organically certified soil free of harmful pesticides, making it one of the most environmentally friendly options for commercial and hobby farmers.
