The Ruler of Sharjah receives directors of poetry houses in the Arab world
Sharjah, 6 January / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, received this morning the directors of poetry houses in the Arab world, at the house of Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi.
His Highness welcomed the directors of poetry houses in: Mafraq in Jordan, Nouakchott in Mauritania, Luxor in Egypt, Kairouan in Tunisia, Tetouan and Marrakesh in Morocco, and Khartoum in Sudan. His Highness praised what the poetry houses offer and what they contribute to the cultural movement throughout the Arab world, and addressed the role of literature and poetry in developing poetic taste, fair competition, encouraging young poets, disseminating their production, and introducing them to cultural circles.
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah pointed out the importance of shedding more light on what poetry houses offer in the Arab world, by intensifying media and television programs that deal with the activities and news of poetry houses, and working to highlight them widely so that all viewers and listeners can see them, which contributes to developing the experience of poetry houses in general and the experience of poets in particular, increases their spread and encourages them to further literary and creative production.
During the meeting, the directors of the poetry houses provided detailed explanations about the achievements achieved by the houses since their establishment and the great services they contributed to providing to poets and to the public who follow and connoisseur of Arabic poetry, which contributed to the emergence of new generations of young poets and encouraged them to participate and highlight their talents. They also extended their thanks and gratitude to His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for His Highness’s unlimited support for Arabic poetry, and for His Highness’s personal follow-up of all activities of the poetry houses, which was reflected in the consolidation and strengthening of this unique experience.
