Ahmed bin Saeed witnesses the signing of a memorandum of understanding between… "Dubai Finance" and"Free Zones Council "

DUBAI, 6 JANUARY / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Free Zones Council, witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Dubai Department of Finance and the Dubai Free Zones Council, with the aim of enhancing cooperation in digital payment initiatives and supporting the “Dubai Cashless Strategy”, within the framework of unifying government efforts and accelerating the transformation towards an integrated digital transactions system.
The memorandum was signed by His Excellency Abdul Rahman Saleh Al Saleh, Director General of the Dubai Department of Finance, and His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Al Zarouni, Secretary General of the Dubai Free Zones Council, in the presence of a number of officials from both sides.
The memorandum aims to coordinate joint efforts to achieve the goals of the “Dubai Cashless Strategy,” including exchanging knowledge and experiences in the field of cashless transformation, cooperating in sharing relevant data and analyzes to assess the situation and measure the impact achieved, and employing modern financial technology to accelerate the achievement of a cashless society and enhance Dubai’s position as one of the most important digital cities in the world.
His Excellency Abdul Rahman Saleh Al Saleh said that this memorandum embodies the Dubai government’s commitment to strengthening government partnership relations and concerted efforts to accelerate the transformation towards an integrated digital transaction system, in a way that supports the objectives of Dubai’s cashless strategy.
He added: We at Dubai Finance are keen to follow the directives of the wise leadership by raising levels of cooperation in exchanging knowledge and data and employing the latest financial technology solutions, in order to raise the efficiency of financial transactions and enhance the readiness of the public and private sectors for the future, which contributes to consolidating Dubai’s position as one of the most important digital cities in the world, and is in line with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
For his part, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Al Zarouni stressed that this step represents a practical framework to enhance joint cooperation with the relevant government agencies, and support the strategic directions of the Emirate of Dubai in transforming towards an advanced digital transaction system, which contributes to achieving the goals of the “Dubai Cashless Strategy”, strengthening Dubai’s position as a global capital of the digital economy, and raising the efficiency of services and the flexibility of the business environment in the free zones in the long term.
The cooperation frameworks include supporting awareness efforts and building national capabilities, forming specialized work teams to develop innovative initiatives that contribute to the transition towards a cashless society, and promoting the adoption of digital payment tools and applications, in a way that supports achieving the strategy’s objectives, which are to raise the percentage of cashless transactions to 90% of the total financial transactions in the public and private sectors, and raise digital empowerment among institutions in the two sectors to 100% by the end of 2026, and in line with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
