Dubai College of Tourism has graduated 2,400 tour guides in 5 years

DUBAI, 7 JANUARY / WAM / Dubai College of Tourism, one of the institutions of the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai, is celebrating the fifth year of launching the Tour Guide Programme, the virtual initiative that has succeeded in training and graduating more than 2,400 licensed tour guides from more than 50 nationalities to improve visitors’ experiences throughout Dubai.

Dubai College of Tourism invited citizens and residents interested in the field of tourism guidance to join the “Tourist Guide” programme, which aims to qualify participants and provide them with the necessary training in accordance with the highest approved standards to obtain a tourist guide license issued by the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai.

This license is the only official document in the emirate that authorizes its holders to work as tour guides within tourism companies registered in Dubai, allowing them to accompany visitors from all over the world and provide a rich experience that reflects Dubai’s cultural diversity and supports the growth of its tourism sector.

The “Tour Guide” program comes to keep pace with the rapid growth in the number of international visitors to Dubai, and the needs of the tourism and hospitality sectors, especially as the emirate continues to achieve record growth rates in this field for successive years, as it received during the first eleven months of 2025 more than 17.55 million international visitors, an increase of 5% compared to the same period in 2024.

The “Tour Guide” program receives applications from citizens and residents of the country, who are 18 years of age or older. The program features a comprehensive and flexible online training system, which allows participants to efficiently complete the educational requirements according to their own schedule, and the training is currently available in English and Mandarin.

Maryam Sultan Al Maeeni, Vice President, Emiratisation and Tourist Guidance at Dubai College of Tourism, said that the program has succeeded in qualifying and licensing thousands of guides who played a pivotal role in highlighting Dubai’s distinct tourism components and experiences to its international visitors. Given that the tourism sector is a major driver of Dubai’s economy, its sustainable success is not only measured by the number of visitors, but also by the quality of their experiences, stressing the strategic role of tour guides, as they play a pivotal role in highlighting the essence and character of Dubai.
