Islamic Studies

The selection committee decided for for Islamic Studies granted the award in 2026, jointly, to: Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Fawzan Company, Sheikh Abdul Latif bin Ahmed Al-Fawzan, in recognition of his adoption of a distinguished methodology for charitable work represented in supporting specific initiatives related to development needs, and establishing "Ajwad stop" To be the community arm for creating and developing humanitarian initiatives.

And Professor of Al-Azhar University, Dr. Muhammad Muhammad Abu Musa from Egypt, for writing more than thirty books in the Arabic language, especially rhetoric concerned with clarifying the miracle of the Holy Qur’an, and his founding membership in the Council of Senior Scholars at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and his participation in many international scientific seminars and conferences, and his holding more than three hundred councils at Al-Azhar Mosque to explain heritage books, and his work to consolidate cultural identity among young people.

King Faisal Prize

In the King Faisal Prize for Islamic Studies branch, the committee decided to award the prize for this year 2026 AD, on its subject: "Trade routes in the Islamic world"In collaboration with: Professor at the Egyptian Fayoum University, Abdul Hamid Hussein Hamouda, for presenting comprehensive scientific works characterized by comprehensiveness and objective analysis, covering land and sea trade routes, their networks and branches in regions including the Islamic East, Iraq, Persia, the Arabian Peninsula, the Levant, Egypt, and the Sahara.

As for the King Faisal Prize For Arabic Language and Literature 2026 AD and its subject "Arabic literature in French"The award was awarded to Professor Pierre Larchet, a professor at the University of Aix-Marseille in France, for presenting Arabic literature to French readers with creativity and novelty that made him appreciated by specialized critics and scholars, and for his high-level scientific methodology in his study of ancient Arabic poetry, presenting it in a way that suits the context of French culture, and for having a critical project represented in his French translations of the Mu’allaqat and his study of pre-Islamic poetry with scientific sobriety.

The Medicine Prize

The King’s Prize was also awarded. Faisal School of Medicine for the year 2026 AD, and its topic is: "Influential discoveries in obesity treatments" To the professor at Rockefeller University in the United States of America, Professor Svetlana Moisov, for her pioneering work in discovering the biologically active glucagon-like peptide (GLP-1) as a hormone with receptors in the pancreas, heart, and brain in humans, and for employing advanced and modern techniques in the biochemistry of peptides, and for presenting precise physiological studies that showed that this hormone is a strong stimulator of insulin secretion. These discoveries have contributed to the development of a new class of treatments for diabetes and obesity.

Science Prize

In the King Faisal Prize for Science, the selection committee for the King Faisal Prize for Science decided to award the prize for this year 2026 AD, and its subject is "mathematics" To Professor Carlos Kenig at the University of Chicago, USA, for his pioneering contributions to mathematical analysis, which contributed to bringing about a profound shift in the understanding of nonlinear partial differential equations, and provided a set of mathematical techniques that have become commonly used today, and his works opened new horizons for research, with the emergence of their applications in multiple fields, including fluid mechanics, fiber optics, and medical imaging.
