Trump delivers his first State of the Union address in Congress on February 24

US House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson announced that President Donald Trump will deliver Trump: "We look forward to moving forward with the important work that lies ahead in 2026, serving the American people and defending freedom"
He continued: "I invite you to deliver a speech at a joint session To Congress on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, in the hall of the US House of Representatives"
Trump delivered a speech to a joint session of Congress in March last year, but this occurring in the first year of his term is not officially classified as a State of the Union address.

Internal pressures on Trump

The speech comes as Trump faces internal pressures related to the rising costs of living and his controversial campaign against immigration, in addition to increasing international reactions against an increasingly aggressive foreign policy that has confused the countries neighboring the United States and its European allies.

The statement explained that the memorandum obligates all American ministries and executive bodies to stop participation and funding in 35 organizations that do not fall within the United Nations system, in addition to 31 bodies affiliated with the United Nations.

He is expected to present his vision for the country in a year that may be decisive. If the Democrats win a majority in the House of Representatives in the midterm elections, they will be able to limit his power until his term ends.
Johnson said: "Under your leadership and bold actions, the United States is stronger, freer, and more prosperous"praising what has been achieved in 2025.
