Hamdan bin Zayed reviews the schedule of sporting events in the Al Dhafra region

Abu Dhabi, 8 January / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, confirmed that the strategic initiatives and projects aimed at creating a qualitative shift in the sports sector in the Al Dhafra Region fall within the vision of the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him”, which aims to make sport a pivotal element in advancing the process of comprehensive and sustainable development, and an effective tool for enhancing the well-being of society and encouraging… Its members adopt healthy and active lifestyles.

His Highness stressed the importance of supporting the sports sector in the Al Dhafra region, praising the efforts made by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council in developing sports projects and providing an integrated sports environment that keeps pace with the aspirations of the wise leadership, and contributes to consolidating the region’s position on the map of local and international sports events.

This came while His Highness received, at the Nakheel Palace in Abu Dhabi, a delegation from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council headed by His Excellency Arif Hamad Al Awani, Secretary-General of the Council, and in the presence of His Excellency Nasser Mohammed Al Mansouri, Under-Secretary of the Court of the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, His Excellency Issa Hamad Bushahab, Advisor to His Highness the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Assistant Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and Saeed Al Muhairi, Executive Director. For the Sports Development Sector in the Council, along with a number of officials.

During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan was briefed on a comprehensive presentation on the most prominent sports projects and initiatives being implemented in the Al Dhafra region, in addition to future plans aimed at developing the sports infrastructure and enhancing the participation of community members in sports activities, which contributes to establishing a healthy and sustainable lifestyle and improving the quality of life.

His Highness also listened to a comprehensive explanation about the schedule of sports events and tournaments for the year 2026 in the Al Dhafra region, in addition to being informed about the developments of the “Abu Dhabi 360” sports centers, which include the Ghayathi Center for women and men, the Madinat Zayed Center for Women, and the Al Selaa Center, and the role of these centers in supporting various societal groups and promoting the practice of sports in the region.

His Highness also reviewed the various community events that will be hosted by various regions of Al Dhafra during the new year, which aim to enhance community interaction, spread sports culture, and encourage various segments of society to participate in physical and sporting activities.

His Highness also viewed the routes of the Emirates Tour for women and men in the Al Dhafra region, as the region hosts the opening rounds of the two tours on February 5 for the women’s tour and February 16 for the men’s tour, as part of the fourth and eighth editions of the two global events.

For his part, His Excellency Arif Hamad Al Awani expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his continuous support and constant keenness to follow up on sports projects in the Al Dhafra region, stressing that this support constitutes a great incentive to continue working and developing sports programs in a way that serves the people of the region and meets their needs.

Al-Awani stressed the commitment of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council to move forward with the implementation of development projects, and to provide an integrated and supportive sports environment for various groups, in a way that keeps pace with the rapid growth of the sports sector in the Al Dhafra region, and enhances its contribution to sustainable community development.
