Sharjah Literature Festival promotes the values of cultural dialogue and intellectual openness

Sharjah, January 10, 2026 – The Sharjah Literature Festival, organized by the Emirates Publishers Association and the Sharjah Book Authority, is one of the most prominent cultural events that reflects the position of the Emirate of Sharjah as a leading center for literary thought and creativity at the regional and international levels. It brings together an elite group of Emirati writers, literary figures, and intellectuals and presents a diverse cultural program aimed at enhancing the presence of literature in daily life, and consolidating the values of cultural dialogue and intellectual openness.
This event confirms Sharjah’s vision of supporting culture and knowledge as two basic pillars of building society.
The festival, which concludes tomorrow, seeks to support and encourage Emirati literary creativity, highlight the talents of local writers, enhance direct communication between writers and readers, create a space for dialogue and exchange of ideas, spread the culture of reading and consolidate the love of literature and knowledge among different segments of society, support the publishing sector and cultural industries and contribute to their development and sustainability, and strengthen Sharjah’s position as a capital of culture and arts and a platform for cultural convergence between peoples.
Amira Boukadra, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Publishers Association, said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that the Sharjah Literature Festival in its second session is distinguished by its being from society to society. It includes many dialogue sessions and interactive workshops that have become more in-depth, making the community and festival visitors feel that its activities, including sessions and workshops, are consistent with their literary, cultural, historical and heritage interests, in addition to photography and even cooking.
She called on all members of society to benefit from these events to enhance their knowledge, especially with the presence of more than 40 Emirati publishing houses displaying their latest publications, especially in Emirati literature.
For her part, Hamda Ibrahim Al Balushi, founder of Dar “Your World,” said that her participation in the second edition of the festival is a cultural initiative that seeks to encourage children to read in the Arabic language and enhance the Emirati identity of children. She praised the support of the Emirati Publishers Association and the Sharjah Book Authority for national cultural projects and initiatives, calling on Emirati families to visit the festival to see the latest Emirati literary productions and enjoy this cultural atmosphere that spreads joy, culture, and joy, especially in the hearts of children.
In turn, Waqar Al Hammadi said that the Sharjah Literature Festival is not limited to displaying Emirati publications only, but also includes many diverse activities, including interactive workshops and cultural dialogues that enhance the knowledge base of community members, noting that she joined a photography workshop through which she learned the basics of photography and some special secrets in this field.
The Sharjah Literature Festival 2026 represents a comprehensive cultural platform that contributes to enhancing literary awareness, supports the cultural movement in society, and confirms the commitment of the Emirate of Sharjah to its pioneering role in nurturing thought and creativity, employing culture in building humanity, and enhancing communication between civilizations.
