30 goals, the result of the opening of the Dubai Silver Polo Cup

The competitions of the sixteenth edition of the Dubai Silver Polo Cup 2026 kicked off in an exceptional manner, after the opening ceremony turned into a dazzling sporting and artistic carnival, reflecting the growing status of the tournament on the map of polo tournaments in the region, amid a remarkable audience presence and an ideal atmosphere that contributed to presenting high-level artistic performances.

The opening day witnessed the participation of four teams that played two exciting and competitive matches, during which they succeeded in scoring 30 goals, a clear indication of the technical strength of the competitions since their inception.

The opening was attended by a number of prominent sports figures, led by the Vice President of the Emirates Polo Federation, Saeed bin Dari, the Director of Events at the Dubai Sports Council, Issa Sharif, and the Secretary General of the Polo Federation, Mohammed Al Hariz, along with members of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Polo Federation, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hasher Al Maktoum, Hind Al Hosani, and Mahra Falaknaz.

Saeed Bin Dari praised the technical level presented by the four teams on the opening day, congratulating the players on the outstanding performance, stressing that this level reflects the great development witnessed by the sport of polo in the country.

He said: “What we saw at the opening calls for pride and pride, whether in terms of artistic performance or professional organization, and the public attendance is heartening and confirms the success of the event.”

He added: “The Emirati clubs, with their advanced infrastructure and qualified national cadres, are capable of organizing and making major sports tournaments a success.”

For her part, Mahra Falaknaz, member of the Board of Directors of the Polo Federation and Chair of the Public Relations and Media Committee, expressed her happiness at joining the Emirates Polo family, noting that the technical and organizational success and the remarkable public attendance of the opening day constituted a source of pride and pride.

In terms of competitions, the Bangash team, led by Haider Bangash, achieved a strong victory over the Dubai Wolves team, led by Habtoor Al Habtoor, in a strong match that extended for five rounds, during which the Bangash team imposed its control from the beginning, after ending the first half with a three-goal lead to nothing, and continued its superiority in the next four rounds, ending the match with a score of 9 goals to 7.

As for the second match, it was an early final, and brought together the Emirates team, led by Her Highness Sheikha Maitha bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and the Al Habtoor team, led by Mohammed Al Habtoor, as the latter was able to decide the match in its favor with a score of 9 goals to 5.
