"Abu Dhabi Arabic Language" Registration for the 2026 Research Grants Program is open

ABU DHABI, 14th JANUARY / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language announced today the opening of applications for participation in the sixth edition of the research grants program “Insights Series for Research and Studies” for the year 2026, which continues until next February 13th, as part of its ongoing efforts to support scientific research in the Arabic language, and stimulate the production of qualitative works and studies that enhance the presence of Arabic in the fields of knowledge, research and creativity.
The Center called on researchers and innovators wishing to benefit from the program to fill out the application form through the official page of the program on the Center’s website, in accordance with the approved conditions and standards.
The research grants program aims to support the writing of scientific books, and encourage Emirati, Arab, and Arabic-speaking researchers to submit solid research projects that contribute to consolidating the status of the Arabic language as a language of science and culture, work to develop scientific research in it, and build a solid knowledge base that enriches the Arab library and keeps pace with accelerating scientific and cultural transformations.
The program annually provides between six and eight research grants, with a total value of 600,000 dirhams, in six main areas, including: Arabic lexicon, school curricula, literature and criticism, applied and computer linguistics, teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, and editing manuscripts.
The conditions for submission include that the research must be written exclusively in Arabic, and that it must not be less than 50,000 words for the complete project, while adhering to the approved academic standards, clarity of the theoretical and methodological frameworks and the work plan, and that the project must be characterized by originality and novelty, and that it must not have been previously published or received support from any other party, and that the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center owns all paper and electronic publishing rights for the research submitted for grants, whether theoretical or applied, for an indefinite period.
Research is also subject to evaluation within the six research categories supported by the program, according to global evaluation standards that take into account the merit of the research and its intellectual novelty, the level of expected impact of the research proposal’s outputs, and the extent of its connection to the center’s strategy, in addition to the qualifications and research path of the principal researcher and the assistant researchers or partners in the proposal, and the extent of the research’s contribution to its field of knowledge, in a way that ensures the production of solid scientific books with sustainable knowledge value.
Since its launch, in the year 2021, the program has provided 35 research grants, and its last session witnessed a wide international response, with 516 applications for participation received from 36 countries, which reflects the growing confidence in the cultural and knowledge initiatives launched by the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The launch of the sixth edition of the research grants program is in line with the strategic directions of the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, which aim to advance the Arabic language scientifically and educationally, enhance its presence in the global cultural scene, and support Arab research talents in the fields of authorship, publishing and content creation, in a way that contributes to consolidating the Arab cognitive identity and building a sustainable future for the Arabic language at the national and international levels.
