Commander-in-Chief of Civil Defense in Dubai: The country has made a great leap in the field of civil defense

DUBAI, 15 JANUARY / WAM / His Excellency Lieutenant General Rashid Thani Al Matroushi, Commander-in-Chief of Civil Defense in Dubai, stressed that work in Civil Defense is based on the principle of continuity and sustainability, indicating that training and development do not stop at a certain stage, but rather constitute a continuous process that keeps pace with the movement and development of life.

His Excellency Lieutenant General Al Matrooshi explained in statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), on the sidelines of the World Safety Summit, that this sustainable approach contributed to enhancing readiness and raising the efficiency of performance to ensure reducing human and material losses.

He said that the Civil Defense is constantly working to evaluate the challenges and analyze the potential negatives with the aim of avoiding them and reducing their effects as much as possible, explaining that the strategic goal is to reduce the rates of infections and deaths, and an 18% reduction has already been achieved, which reflects the effectiveness of the approved plans.

He pointed out that the speed of response constitutes one of the most important aspects of work, as the earlier one arrives at the accident site, the greater the ability to control and reduce the size of losses, stressing that this integrated system contributed to raising the level of operational efficiency and reducing the recurrence of accidents.

His Excellency Al Matroushi touched on the importance of the World Safety Summit, which is the first of its kind, explaining that this event formed a platform for exchanging experiences and discussing global incidents.

He added that the UAE has moved from the stage of benefiting from the experiences of others to the stage of exporting knowledge and expertise through an open information network and continuous exchange.

He stressed that the specialized teams made great efforts to reach these results, which represent a qualitative leap for civil defense in the UAE and in Dubai in particular, in line with the global government vision.

He explained that the great leap achieved by the state in the field of civil defense is mainly due to the confidence of the wise leadership and the granting of full powers to the executive leadership, which made it possible to work according to clear budgets, specific goals, and accurate performance indicators focused on reducing losses and quickly reaching accidents.

He pointed out that Dubai Civil Defense works within a continuous research and development system that monitors global experiences and benefits from the best models, reaching a stage where many countries are seeking to benefit from the UAE’s experience, which is explained by the large and unprecedented international presence at this conference of ministers and high-level officials.

He explained that the Billion Readiness Program is one of the most prominent innovative initiatives and aims to train a billion people around the world using smart solutions based on rapid response technology (QR code), which allowed access to wide segments without time or place restrictions and in various languages, and saved a lot of human and financial resources and contributed to expanding the scope of training around the clock.

He said that the initiative represents a practical model for employing artificial intelligence and modern technologies in civil defense work, noting that artificial intelligence has become an essential element at all operational levels and has contributed to raising efficiency and achieving significant savings in effort and resources, and that employing it has become a necessity, not an option.

Al Matroushi stressed that before the second summit is held next year, the principle of feedback from member states will be adopted sufficiently in advance to discuss the challenges and obstacles and put them on the agenda with the aim of reaching joint solutions.

He stated that adopting this meeting on a regular basis strengthens the position of the UAE and Dubai, stressing that this achievement is reflected in the institutional marketing of civil defense, the emirate and the state through the development and comprehensive development witnessed by the participants in a way that supports government directions in various economic and development sectors.
