Developing a unified national platform for data and statistics supported by artificial intelligence

The Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with the company “Brisight”, which specializes in artificial intelligence and data analysis, with the aim of developing the “National Platform for Statistical Data” and enhancing technical and analytical capabilities, in the presence of the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Mohammed Abdullah Al-Gergawi.

Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi said, “The new partnership comes within the framework of the UAE’s comprehensive proactive approach, and the leadership’s vision in designing the future, by continuing to employ technology, advanced technology, and artificial intelligence to invest in its opportunities, optimally adapt to its changes, and confront its challenges.”

He added: “This strategic partnership contributes to enhancing the unification of the country’s official statistics, and supports the shift towards smart statistics and data-based decision-making. It also contributes to the development and integration of the national data system, providing a unified environment for official statistics at the country level, ensuring the linking and integration of economic and social data sources, and enabling government agencies and decision makers to access accurate, updated and timely data that supports strategic planning and formulation of public policies and enhances the UAE’s global competitiveness.”

Minister of State, Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, and General Supervisor of the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics, Maryam bint Ahmed Al-Hammadi, said: “This partnership with BriSight reflects the leadership’s vision of building a future government based on data and artificial intelligence, and embodies a qualitative shift in the government sector’s shift towards smart statistics and comprehensive integration with all relevant authorities’ data. It also enhances the ability of these authorities to make quick decisions supported by accurate, reliable and timely data, which enhances the development process and supports the state’s readiness for future changes.”

She indicated that this partnership will contribute to supporting integration between federal and local agencies, unifying national data sources, activating flexible governance frameworks that respond to the challenges of the digital age, and opening new horizons in using data to serve sustainable development.

For his part, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Brisight, Mansour Al Mansouri, said: “Our partnership with the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Center represents direct support for the efforts of the UAE government to strengthen the national data system, based on Brisight’s belief in the importance of data as an essential resource for making economic and social policies and the shift towards a knowledge economy based on evidence and smart analyses.”

He added: “The advanced technical competencies provided by BriSight in the field of analytics and artificial intelligence tools will contribute to raising the level of integration of national data and transforming it into actionable insights that support government strategies and push the national economy towards broader horizons of growth and innovation.”

The memorandum of understanding constitutes an advanced step in employing artificial intelligence and advanced analytics solutions within a unified national framework that ensures the unification of statistical methodologies and concepts in accordance with the highest international standards, and enhances the governance and security of national data by hosting it through the UAE Government’s Federal Network (FedNet).

This partnership reflects the UAE’s commitment to strengthening its national statistical structure, as the platform contributes to supporting the production of official national statistics, including the gross domestic product and balance of payments, and enables government agencies to analyze economic and social trends with greater accuracy, direct resources efficiently, improve the quality of government services and enhance transparency. The platform also translates the country’s direction towards moving from fragmented data systems to a unified national system based on smart analysis, and supports the adoption of artificial intelligence techniques in formulating policies and future planning, as well as enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy and consolidating the UAE’s position globally as a model for government. The partnership confirms the importance of the National Statistical Data Platform as a strategic national asset and a unified base for joint statistical work in the country, which supports monitoring performance, measuring impact, directing future investments and strategies, and enhancing the achievement of the goals of the “We Are the Emirates 2031” vision.
