المملكة: The Minister of Islamic Affairs directs the maintenance of 800 mosques in Medina


Insert Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance Sheikh Dr. Abdul Latif Al Sheikh, during an official visit to Madinah Region, a number of projects for maintaining and operating mosques in the region.

It included the implementation of Maintenance and cleaning work for about 800 mosques and mosques, at a total cost of 61 million riyals, which contributed to raising the maintenance coverage of the region’s mosques to 91%.

The projects included five main maintenance and cleaning operations, which included a number of historical mosques and prominent religious monuments, including the Sayyid al-Shuhada Mosque, the Qiblatain Mosque, and the Khandaq Mosque, in addition to the mosques of Al-Ula Governorate and Al-Eis Governorates. And Yanbu, as part of the Ministry’s ongoing plan to care for the Houses of God and prepare them for worshipers and visitors.

Supporting the wise leadership

The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Latif bin Abdulaziz Al Al Sheikh, confirmed that the achievements achieved in developing and maintaining mosques come with the generous support and continued attention of the wise leadership – may God support it -, which has paid great attention to the Houses of God, and has been keen to preserve them. Harnessing all capabilities to serve mosques and their visitors, and to raise the level of their maintenance and operation in accordance with the highest standards of quality and safety, in keeping with the religious and historical status of the Medina region, and meeting the needs of worshipers and visitors.

As part of the visit, His Excellency toured the Ministry’s branch in the Medina region, during which he was briefed on the progress of work and the level of implementation of operational and advocacy projects and programmes, stressing the importance of field follow-up, raising the efficiency of performance, and enhancing the quality of services provided to the mosques.

Improving maintenance mechanisms

The Minister of Islamic Affairs also held a meeting in the presence of the ministry’s undersecretaries, with the directors of departments in the branch and the directors of its affiliated governorate departments, during which a number of topics were discussed related to developing institutional work, improving maintenance and operation mechanisms, enhancing coordination between departments, and improving the services provided to the Houses of God, in a way that achieves the aspirations of the wise leadership and reflects the ministry’s mission in serving religion and society.
