I witnessed the The General Authority for Transport aims to raise the efficiency of the sector, improve the quality of services, and enhance sustainability, in line with the objectives of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics and the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
The Authority explained that the passenger transport sector recorded remarkable growth during the year, as the number of trips carried out through passenger transport applications reached about 142 million trips, while the number of passengers via trains exceeded 155 million passengers, and buses within cities recorded more than 97 million passengers, in addition to more than 3 Millions of passengers ride on buses between cities, under the authority’s supervision.
The development of smart mobility
and in the field of Smart Mobility, the Authority launched in the middle of last year Autonomous vehicles to transport passengers in the city of Riyadh via dedicated routes that serve vital areas in the capital, within an integrated system in partnership with a number of government agencies, with plans to expand in the future, and this experience witnessed a wide response from beneficiaries.
The authority continued to support the growth of the logistics services sector by activating strategic partnerships and signing agreements, in addition to opening regional headquarters for international logistics companies in the capital, Riyadh, in a way that enhances the authority’s goals in attracting investments and making the Kingdom As a regional logistics center, the sector recorded an increasing performance with the number of order deliveries exceeding 409 million, while the number of parcels exceeded 230 million parcels during the year.
The authority indicated the launch of a dedicated route for electric buses in Mecca, in a step aimed at adopting smart solutions, reducing carbon emissions, and promoting environmental preservation.
Maritime transport numbers
In terms of maritime transport, the Jazan-Fursan ferries recorded more than 492,000 passengers and about 143,000 cars and trucks, which contributes to enhancing maritime connectivity to Farasan Island and providing daily supplies to the population.
The Authority contributed to the Kingdom’s membership in the International Maritime Organization (IMO), confirming its active role in the maritime sector.
In the field of digital transformation, the Authority issued more than 6 million unified car rental contracts, in addition to issuing more than 1.2 million vehicle operating cards and 814,000 driver cards, which enhances the organization of the sector. And it raises the level of safety.
As for the oversight aspect, the number of inspections on transport activities exceeded more than 4 million during the year as part of the efforts aimed at enhancing compliance with the approved regulations and raising safety levels in various transport activities.
Crowning the efforts of the Transport Authority
The Authority indicated that these efforts were crowned by its achievement of the King Abdulaziz Quality Award in the government sector category, in recognition of its contributions to developing the transport sector and achieving an integrated and sustainable transport system, and providing service "Vehicle rental" The Authority launched the Digital Government Award for its excellence in documenting vehicle contracts electronically.
The General Transport Authority won two awards at the conference "Shape Tech" Including a prize "Employer of the Year" And a prize "Naval Commander"
