The Head of State and the Senegalese President discuss relations between the two countries

ABU DHABI, 15 JANUARY / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, received today His Excellency Basserou Diomay Faye, President of the Republic of Senegal, who is on a working visit to the country during which he participated in the activities of “Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026”.
During the meeting – which took place at Al-Shati Palace in Abu Dhabi – the two sides discussed various paths of cooperation and joint work and opportunities to enhance it, especially in the economic and trade fields, renewable energy, sustainability, infrastructure and other fields that serve the development priorities and common interests of the two countries and bring goodness and development to their peoples.
The meeting touched on the importance of the topics and issues raised by “Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026” in all its sessions and its role in enhancing joint international cooperation, enhancing awareness of sustainability issues, and developing innovative solutions to common global challenges in a way that contributes to accelerating the pace of sustainable development and building a more prosperous future for all.
During the meeting, His Highness and the Senegalese President also exchanged views on a number of topics and issues of common interest.
The two sides stressed their mutual keenness to continue strengthening the strong Emirati-Senegalese relations, which have witnessed continuous development over decades, and to expand the base of their development partnerships to advance sustainable economic growth and open new horizons for constructive cooperation that meets the aspirations of the two countries towards progress and prosperity.
The meeting was attended by: His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chief of the Presidential Office for Special Affairs, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor to His Highness the President of the State, and a number of ministers and senior state officials.
