Dubai Culture displays a dress designed by Al Yazia Bint Nahyan at Al Shindagha Museum

DUBAI, 7 March / WAM / The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority “Dubai Culture” announced the display of a dress designed by Sheikha Al Yazia bint Nahyan Al Nahyan within the collections of the House of Decoration and Beauty at Al Shindagha Museum, the largest heritage museum in the UAE, on loan from Anasi Media Company, in a move that reflects the Authority’s continuing efforts to explore the social dimensions of clothing and adornment and their historical role in shaping the cultural identity of society and providing a rich cognitive experience for museum visitors that allows them to contemplate the work as a point of A meeting between tradition and contemporary design.
The dress, which was designed in the year 2024, embodies an artistic vision that reflects an elegant intersection between heritage and modernity. It was made of silk fabric in a pastel green color tending to silver. The neckline and wrists were decorated with delicate geometric and floral embroideries, while writings in Nabati script flowed over its surface, designed in the form of carefully coordinated groups to form rhythmic circular patterns that evoke the first beginnings of communication and storytelling. The design details reflect a deep respect for the Emirati identity in the spirit of Contemporary modern.
The design features a layer of transparent tulle in a bronze color that flows smoothly from the left shoulder in a reference inspired by the costumes of the ancient city of Palmyra. It was attached with a recycled mishmash coin that combines the Phoenician character and the Emirati dirham in a symbolic sign of cultural exchange and the continuity of civilizations across time and place.
