Al-Bataeh equals Baniyas in the minute “90+6”

Baniyas missed out on a win that was within reach against its guest, Al Bataeh, and settled for a 1-1 draw, today, Sunday, at Al Shamkha Stadium, at the end of the first leg of the competition.

The match was enthusiastic throughout, as Al-Bataeh started the match with clear attacking activity, and Anatoly almost gave his team the lead with a header, which was blocked by Baniyas goalkeeper Fahd Al-Dhanhani. The crossbar also saved the Baniyas goal from an achieved goal after a cross ball played by Gianluca Muniz.

As time passed, Baniyas imposed its presence and succeeded in reaching Al-Bataeh’s goal more than once, until Baniyas Mali striker Youssef Nyakati was able to translate his advantage into a goal, benefiting from a distinguished individual effort in the “39th” minute.

In the second half, Al-Bataeh intensified its attempts to equalize, and threatened Baniyas’ goal on more than one occasion, most notably Anatoly’s header that went over the crossbar, and a powerful shot by Aziz Janiev that was blocked by Fahd Al-Dhanhani.

In stoppage time, Anatoly was able to score the equalizer after following up on a rebound from goalkeeper Fahd Al Dhanhani, and the VAR technology approved the goal, amid objection from the technical staff of Baniyas Club, in the “90+6” minute.

With this result, Baniyas remained in last place with eight points, while Al Bataeh finished in twelfth place with 10 points.
